Our baby’s not a baby

Just two short years ago, we sent a very happy child off to 1K preschool. 4 hrs a day was great for her and us! It’s hard to believe that she just started 3K this week. Where has the time gone? The fact that she is going to seem so grown when we bring the twins home soon is even harder. There will never be another like her for sure. She is her own person and she is very good at it!

Marti & Mark’s Wedding | Inlet Beach

Some couples are high maintenance and others are super laid back. Marti & Mark were definitely in the laid back category. It was a weekday destination wedding with their close friends and family and it was a perfect day. Of course, Jennifer of It’s a Shore Thing helped on that part! Marti’s gorgeous silk gown floated along the sand as if she were Cinderella.

We have been itching…. ITCHING to show these for about 3 weeks now. Lauren and Marc tied the knot this past weekend, so we can finally post some of her beautiful bridal session photos. These were actually taken on two different days in two completely different locations, the last with her horse Warrior. We’ll have a quick preview of their wedding soon, so enjoy these for now!

This session was photographed on her parent’s farm. It was a brilliantly sunny afternoon and the lighting was amazing….. Warrior was a little grouchy, but Lauren comforted him very well.

We would like to take this opportunity to formally announce that we are teaming up with StudioWed/Atlanta to promote our services and style of photography in the great city of Atlanta, GA. We have always been really big fans of the Atlanta area, and we feel that the time is right for a transition to a much larger market that is overflowing with talent in the wedding industry. We first met wedding & event planner Michelle Gainey at the Jan 2009, Southern Weddings Magazine launch party in Atlanta. Shortly thereafter she launched StudioWed, and we were extremely impressed with her operation and business sense. We knew deep down that if we ever decided to embrace the idea of diversifying our business into Atlanta, she was going to be the person we went to first. The stars aligned once again recently, and we are now proud to be the newest faces on her elite team of wedding vendors. Atlanta is a 5 hour drive for us, but we are proud to now call it our second home, especially with our beautiful new meeting space in metro-west Atlanta. We will be there quite often for industry events, as well as to meet clients inquiring about our services. Sara & Jonathan | Mobile Wedding

Where do we even start with this one? Sara and Jonathan are an amazing couple and it seems like we go way back. Sara first contacted us back in 2008, and we kept in touch while they explored all options for their wedding date. Sara is quite the photographer herself, and she was looking for one that was a little less traditional than most in Mobile. We hit it off from the beginning and knew her wedding was going to be fantastic. Jonathan proposed in New Orleans, so we were more than excited to go to the Big Easy for an engagement session with them last Fall. It was a beautiful afternoon, so we took advantage of the weather and had a great time waling the French Quarter. One thing we love about Mobile (we both grew up there) is how much the downtown area resembles New Orleans. For their wedding this past May, they chose a beautiful location in the heart of Mobile that really has that French Quarter feel. If you didn’t know any better, you would probably think it was New Orleans just looking at the photos. The beautiful brick courtyard was a perfect place for the ceremony with plenty of room to party for the reception. I think we can both say it’s one of our favorite new Mobile venues.

We’ll start with a few engagement photos from New Orleans

The woman singing on the left is a New Orleans attraction herself and has an amazing soulful voice. It was an experience to hear her…. Nothing to see here officer…. move along. A few wedding details including that beautiful dress… The backdrops are amazing as well. The red wallpaper in the dining room was beautiful…. Since photos were so important to Sara, she and Jonathan saw each other prior to the wedding to give us a lot more time….

The girls were sporting some bright wraps and having a lot of fun…

But the guys had their own ideas for fun portraits….

This still cracks me up looking at it. Apparently the ring was forgotten upstairs until line-up time for the ceremony. Sara looks so mean here, but it was pretty hilarious…

The priests were checking out the guests through the window… Two beautiful ladies right here…

That cake and the food were ridiculously amazing!

When you’re honeymooning in NYC, there’s only one way to leave a wedding!This was the first wedding we tested ShootShed on and it was a major success!

2010 Emerge Contest Winner | Wesley Leytham

One of the hardest things to blog for us is anything that might be construed as bragging. With that being said, Wesley entered the Emerge photo competition for wedding photographers recently in May. This was an international competition created to bring up and coming mostly unnoticed talent into the spotlight to be recognized in the international wedding industry. It was sponsored and judged by some of the leading wedding industry professionals such as Rebecca Crumley from The Knot Magazine, and world-renowned wedding photographer Joe Buissink. There were 5 categories to enter, and 3 winners were chosen from each category for a total of 15 winners out of well over 1000 entries. We were quite honored and shocked to get the notification that Wesley had finished 2nd place in the “details” category with 10 images he took at Ginny & Brad’s Carillon wedding in January of 2010. He won some great new photography toys and equipment, as well as being profiled in the international photography magazine “Rangefinder” in an upcoming issue. We are very proud of him! We are also thankful to Carillon Weddings and Christina at Nouveau for providing those amazing details!

It’s been WAY too long we posted a baby session. So, here you go! This is my second time photographing Callie and I can’t believe how big she is since I saw her 8 months ago. She is a sweetie and was such a good sport in the muggy July heat!

Michie & Tan | Pensacola Wedding

Michie and Tan’s wedding was a little different than most of our weddings. It was rich in Asian tradition and so full of culture! They mixed in their heritages for a Chinese/Vietnamese party. It all started at a beach house when Tan’s family presented gifts to Michie’s family. Then, the parents’ presented gifts to the couple. They ate yummy Chinese snacks and drank tea before heading to the church. The ceremony was almost entirely in Vietnamese, but we followed it pretty well since we have been to so make Catholic ceremonies. Then we headed to the reception at St. Ann’s beautiful fellowship hall. It was on of the only places in town that could accomadate the 350+ crowd. And, it didn’t even feel crowded in there! Tracy from Wedding Walls did a fabulous job dressing up the interior of the hall. The 7-course Vietnamese dinner was catered by a Vietnamese restaurant from the New Orleans area and it included all sorts of seafood (mmmm lobster) and was absolutely amazing!! I am pretty sure every person there thoroughly enjoyed their meal and their night.

Michie was flawlessly breathtaking the moment we arrived…

She started out intraditional Chinese attire for the tea ceremony prior to the wedding

Michie was formally introduced to all the guests at the start of the tea ceremony

Michie’s parents accepted the gifts from Tan’s family. It was quite a food ensemble… including a whole roasted pig!

Immediately following the tea, Michie slipped into that gorgeous white dress and we headed to the chapel…

The ceremony kicked off with a band playing nothing but Asian music

Fun details including the cake front and center with beautiful draping provided by Wedding Walls!

Michie changed back into her Chinese dress for part of the reception and they had to visit each table for gifts and a toast. It was a lot of toasting with 300+ people! I think Michie tried to slip in water a few times, but her glass was quickly replaced with some bubbly!

For the partying, Michie changed again into a FUN party dress! That girl has style!
